Venue Hire Rates:

Hire of this beautiful event location offers excellent value for money, especially when compared to hire costs of marquees, tables/chairs, staging etc.  Pledgdon Barn hire includes many facilities – and we allow hirers 1 day’s advance access from 10am-2pm, for unhurried setting up… and until 9.30am on the day after your event for ‘collection’/clearing purposes.

Hire charge in 2018: £3995     Hire charge in 2019: £4250     Hire charge in 2020: £4495

Hire includes use of 140 elegant chairs, 14 tables (5′ round), car park and normal cleaning after the event.  We have 1 high chair available.

Civil Ceremonies:

The charge for use of our civil ceremony licence is £395 for 2018/19.  Up to 100 guests can sit for the ceremony + about 20 more may stand.  You could add a marquee to the Barn side for higher numbers. NB: Book with Chelmsford Registration Office (T: 0345 603 7632) to secure a time for the service on your chosen date – and they charge a fee.

  • Eve Cheeses, Bread, Fruit Buffet: £11.95 per head inclusive  and Hog Roast (minimum 100 guests) £12.45 per head – and other ideas available

Catering:

Pledgdon Barn’s caterer is Country Cuisine Ltd.  Menus are found here, but ring for exact quotes as prices take into account guest numbers, courses, food style, date etc. Alternatives offered for pre-booked vegetarians, ‘allergic’ guests + children too.  It’s sometimes possible for other caterers to be permitted re the food aspect (eg religious reasons). The charge for this permission is £1595 including optional use of kitchen servery facilities on event day.  That caterer must provide food hygiene certificate/current insurance/ liability cover and food registration certificate in compliance with the barn’s environmental health office. We can hire you equipment/linen etc if required.

Drinks at Pledgdon Barn:

As a further cost-saving, you supply your event’s drinks – and Barn Services provides glasses/service aspect. Rather than ‘corkage’ rates or ‘per bottle’, we think it’s fairer for clients to be charged ‘per guest’ – so you know in advance what drink service costs will be. We’ll quote specifically for your event’s timings and needs. However, provision of glasses/staff to serve your drinks is usually quoted for in 2 sections: ‘daytime’ and ‘evening’ (see below).  NB We ask you NOT to give alcohol as gifts to guests (eg Miniatures as favours). Thank you.

Daytime Drinks: For service/glasses for 75+ guests (using drinks you have obtained) for the daytime aspect of the event  (eg from the start to the toast after the meal), the 2018 price per head is £8.95 and in 2019 £9.25. This includes service, chilling, equipment, glasses (eg elegant, long-stemmed wine glasses), polishing/putting out glasses, collecting up & washing up after and disposal of empty bottles too.  Typical service style is for a choice of 3 Arrival Drinks offered by staff from trays (+ glasses topped up as necessary). Thereafter, your table drinks (ie 1 type of white wine, 1 of red wine and your glass bottles of still water) will be in place on tables for guests to help themselves to, with bottles replaced as required until the Toast after the meal.  NB  It’s not possible to offer a wider selection of wines with the meal. A toast (eg Champagne) is served with a filled glass offered to each guest.

Evening Drinks: The 2018 price for serving drinks (you’ve obtained) for the eve part of your event from the bar area (approximately 7.30pm to 11.30pm) – is £7.95 per head.  This includes glasses, washing up, staff and empty bottle disposal after – and represents good value ‘per hour per guest’ re evening drinks service including equipment. Alternatively, opt for a licensed cash Pay Bar subject to availability and for a minimum £750 spend. The fee and License for this option is £285 for 2018 and then drinks are charged at similar rates to pub prices.  However, as a condition of running a Pay Bar, please appreciate there can be no overlap between daytime drinks (for which the client supplies the drink) and the Pay Bar aspect.  Any unused or part-used ‘daytime’ bottles will be stored and available next day for the client to take back.
